As a Doll artist, Mary Cripps has created beautiful and realistic
fantasy art doll figures.
Her original dolls have been sought after by collectors for years.
These three dimensional works are what has led her to the the art of portraiture. "It's thrilling to create the effect of a three dimensional portrait in the two dimensions of a watercolor painting", says Mary.
Working from photographs, Mary is able to reflect the essence of the personality of the subject, not just the 'likeness'.
Living in central New Jersey, Mary is able to travel to local clients homes to take the reference photograph, if required. "People are stunned when they realize the portraits are in watercolor": says Mary.
"Even other watercolor artists are surprised! I love that!"
Residing in Lovely Lincroft New Jersey, Mary is a member of the Guild of Creative Arts.
